Idea

Ideas in OTS are concepts, arguments, principles, doctrines, propositions, mental tools. An Idea is a thing you can think with. If a note is about a what-is-meant, it is an Idea.

Idea notes carry the standard fields plus a definition (one sentence, ideally), aliases, and a list of key_people associated with the idea. The definition field is the discipline of the type: an Idea you cannot summarize in a sentence is probably more than one Idea, or not yet an Idea.

The Idea subtypes used in this corpus are Argument (a structured claim with premises and conclusion), Concept (a recurring mental object that arguments use as a part), and Instrument (a method or tool, used to do work; the method note is an example). The templated subtype Lexeme exists in OTS but is not used in this corpus.

The Idea notes in this corpus are the philosophical arguments and concepts the demonstration is exercising: cosmological argument, ontological argument, teleological argument, problem of evil, divine hiddenness, reformed epistemology, properly basic belief, evidentialism, skeptical theism. Plus the OTS note itself, which is an Idea about Ideas.

This page is itself an Idea note. Every other Idea has type: [[Idea]]. The backlinks panel on the right is the index.
